CBN: Cannabinol, the new miracle molecule?
Espritvert • March 1, 2023
Welcome to the wonderful world of cannabis! Today, we're going to talk about a molecule that's starting to get some attention: CBN, or Cannabinol for those in the know.
So, what is CBN? It's a molecule found in cannabis, like THC and CBD. But unlike those two, CBN is relatively unknown. Why? Because CBN is sort of the black sheep of cannabis: it doesn't provide a psychotropic or high effect like THC, and it doesn't have the recognized therapeutic properties of CBD. In short, CBN has long been considered a molecule of little interest.
But that was before! Because today, CBN is starting to be studied more closely, and the results are rather interesting. In fact, we are slowly discovering that CBN could have very interesting medicinal properties.
For example, CBN is said to have anti-inflammatory properties, which would make it useful for relieving chronic pain, skin inflammations, or even inflammatory bowel diseases. CBN also has antibacterial properties, which could make it an effective treatment for certain infections.
But that's not all: CBN also has sedative properties, which would make it useful for fighting insomnia or anxiety. And as if that weren't enough, CBN also has neuroprotective properties, which would make it useful for preventing or treating certain neurodegenerative diseases.
In short, CBN seems to have a rather impressive medicinal potential. But beware, this does not mean that you should rush to consume cannabis to get it! CBN is not yet legalized everywhere, and its concentration in cannabis strains is often quite low. It is therefore important to consult a doctor before taking CBN, and to ensure that the source of the molecule is reliable.
In any case, CBN shows that cannabis still holds many secrets, and that we do not yet know all the molecules it contains. Who knows what we will discover tomorrow? Perhaps one day, we will talk about another unknown molecule in cannabis, which will have even more amazing properties than CBN. In the meantime, it is always good to keep an eye on this mysterious plant, which seems to still have much to teach us.
